You must know how to sew and use a sewing machine to participate in this class.
The Carpenter’s Wheel quilt pattern has been a popular quilt design for decades. For this pieced quilt, an eight - point star will be surrounded by the Carpenter’s Wheel in twenty-inch square blocks. A second pieced block, which complements this design, will also be included in the quilt. The quilt may be made with nine blocks, 12 blocks, or as many as you wish. The design will be great for a large pillow or wall quilt, as well. This Carpenter’s Star quilt will be made with squares, rectangles and triangles, many of which will be cut into units of 2 ½”. Therefore, the method lends itself to using 2 ½” strips. If you wish to use a “Jelly Roll” style package of fabrics, it will work well, along with yardage for background, borders, if desired, and a few fabrics for other elements. Traditional yardage and sizes of fabric such
as fat quarters and scraps, may also be used. We will discuss everything needed in our first class. A rotary cutter, ruler and cutting mat will be used. Weekly instructions will be included in class, with sewing on your own machine at home. Access Linda’s website for photos of previous class projects and other information: www.hunters-stars.com.
